Alexander technique
The Alexander technique was developed by F.M.Alexander at the end of the nineteenth century. Being an actor Alexander discovered that when he spoke, he used the muscles of his head and neck in a way that didn’t leave his vocal cords free. Years of self-research enabled Alexander to use his muscles in a better way. Through practice he gained back his voice, a better posture and more control over his breathing. He started teaching others how they could regain conscious control over their posture and their movements.

The principle: free your neck
The principle of the Alexander technique is that the connection between the head, the neck and the back is essential for one's health and mental well-being. There are, for example, numerous instances in which we unconsciously pull our head into the neck, making the back shorter while using more muscle tension than necessary. This disturbs the balance between the head, the neck and back.
